Numerous Croatian doctors and citizens joined forces to climb to the top of the Sljeme mountain near in Zagreb, an event that marked a joint international public health movement with Globe-athon™. Motivated by statistics on a large number of deaths in Croatia from various types of gynecological cancer, they have shown, through example, the importance of physical activity and its exceptional role in the prevention of illness that claims women’s lives. “I am glad that mountaineers and citizens, in spite of rain, and succeeded in Sljeme in an action against gynecological cancer ” , said Prof. Dr. Damir Eljuga, a gynecologist-oncologist and president of the Croatian Cancer League, added: “I have to emphasize that for a successful fight it is necessary to regularly go to the gynecological examinations and so take care of your own health!
Mountaineering on the occasion of the fourth edition of the award-winning healthcare action CroGlobe-athon, which is commonly marked by many countries of the world, lasted for more than three hours, and one of the most famous Croatian mountaineers Stipe Božić, actors Ana Gruica and Vedran Mlikota and musician Hrvoje Rupčić joined the excitement of physicians and citizens.
“This is my fourth time to participate. I think it is very good for the well-known people to be involved in such actions, and thus make it important for women to look regularly and maybe prevent such a bad illness! “ Said Stipe Božić.
A jointly exciting journey ended with the arrival of the goal at the Red Cross City of Zagreb, which prepared excellent beans for mountaineers and checked for blood pressure.
“As a longtime hiker I am honored by participating in this action. Each of us women thinks that “that” can not happen to us. That’s why health care should be the first place!” Ana Gruicaa concluded.
