The 2nd edition of the Globe-athon in East Asia and Asia Pacific is announced to happen on the 28th September 2014, Sunday. During its second annual effort, Globe-athon will occur during four weeks in September with hundreds of events and educational seminars throughout the world to raise awareness for, and ultimately increase, early detection and prevention of gynecological cancers. Below the belt cancers account for 19 percent of new cancer cases a year, according to International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) 2008 data.

Dr. Mathias Sapuri was identified as hosting coordinator for Papua New Guinea by the hosting committee of Globe-athon, Tamapa, Florida, U.S. Last year Pacific International Hospital initiated this effort to conduct Globe-athon in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea with the support of MRDC. Being the first year and first of its kind of event in PNG, the turn out for the walk was quite good, more than 500 people from many corporate organizations, associations and the public turned for the walk. PNG media played a vital role in the promotion of the event, which made a great turnout to the event.
