• Bonus: How to make a wind turbine. Earth 4 Energy also comes with instructions on how to make a wind turbine. Great to have for the winter months when the clouds block some of sun and winds are up.

What could be better:

• Instructional videos. Although very comprehensive the video material provided was a little cumbersome. Each video explains at length each process and the theory behind it. We found this to take a little bit longer than it should. On the up side, if you have no prior knowledge of making solar panels this might be of advantage to you.

• Metric Adjustments. For those of you that don’t live in the USA, you will need to convert the blueprint and diagram measurements from the old scale into metric cm and meters.

The Verdict

Overall we found Earth 4 energy to be one of the easiest to follow systems we have reviewed. The videos, although long, are a great complement to the plans.  Either the videos or the plans would get the job done but with both to reference it makes it a no brainier.  Having watched the how to videos, then being able to take the paper plans on the roof means you cant go wrong. When we went to the department store to  get the materials list we spent a total of $210 which was slightly over Earth 4 Energy’s claim of under $200, but not too bad we thought.

How Much?

Price of Earth 4 Energy ranges somewhat. The official price on the website is $199. We got our copy for the sale price of $49. We suspect the “sale price” is a bit of a marketing ploy but we have no idea of how long the sale price will last for. The price tag as far as we at globeathon.com are concerned probably saved us money. We could have easily spent an extra $50 on stuff ups and extra materials and the job would have taken probable twice as long at least.
