//Missed by Many, Loved by All

“Missed by Many, Loved by All”

Nancy Regester Yeary (1955-2010)

The Globe-athon would not have been possible without the generous support of Bob Yeary, who was inspired by his wife’s battle with ovarian cancer to found the Nancy Yeary Women’s Cancer Research Foundation in her memory. By all accounts, Nancy was a remarkable woman who fought the disease courageously and selflessly. She maintained a positive attitude and touched hundreds of lives throughout her journey. She was the type of woman who told her friends and family not to send her flowers or other presents, but to make a contribution to the cause instead.

Of course, her husband Bob describes her best: “Throughout her journey, she touched hundreds of lives and was a courageous warrior against the devastating disease. She maintained a positive attitude; she always lit up a room and brought joy to all of the people she touched. Always with a smile, and never with a harsh word, she was a true giver in all respects. To know her is to love her, and to know her laugh is to know a laugh like no other. Nancy loved to fish in the California High Sierras and she was a passionate hockey fan; a beautiful woman, both inside and out. We miss you and you are always on our mind and in our hearts.”

We are inspired by her example, and we like to think she would be proud of the work we are trying to do at the Globe-athon.
