Sharon Gordon is a loud voice when it comes to speaking out about issues she is passionate about. A journalist, radio personality, co-founder of the Coalition to Preserve Reggae Music and an award winning community activist, on Monday, September 7th Gordon joins our Globe-athon float at the West Indian Day Parade as Master of Ceremonies. She says Globe-athon’s mission, to break the silence surrounding women’s cancers and raise awareness, is a cause close to her heart. “My sister is a cervical cancer survivor and she is here with me,” Gordon said. “I know so many women who have either lost their lives or been impacted by these kinds of below the waist illnesses that I want to get the word out.”

As a show host for “Reggae Calling” and moderator of “Community Conversations,” both on CPRLive, as well as the writer of a regular column, “Views on the News,” in The Jamaican Weekly Gleaner, Gordon says she is the perfect person to help capture the crowd’s attention, “I want people to know they don’t have to die,” she said. “So, if all I have to do is run my mouth, GREAT! That’s what I do.”
